If you have spent any time looking at salmon recipes you may have came across separate recipes, one for Miso glazed fish and another for maple glazed fish. Both of these glazes make for terrific salmon fillets.
But here's one better, the video below provides a single recipe that combines both Miso and maple glazes. This way of cooking salmon fillets has been growing and growing in popularity ever since the chef in the video decided to do his cooking video
Check it out below you will love how it looks and tastes.
Have you ever made Miso glaze? You will need to purchase some Miso paste, can be found at your local grocery store.
A very simple glaze for salmon
Also when making this glaze you will need seasoned rice vinegar and hot sauce. And once you have the Miso paste, Vinegar and hot sauce added to a bowl then you will want to add in some maple syrup and that's it.
Now you will want to stir these ingredients in your bowl into it turns into a smooth liquid glaze. Use a whisk and this should take only a couple seconds.
If you do plan on following this recipe make sure you watch how this chef cooks the salmon in a plan. In the video this starts at around the 1:10 mark in the video.
I stumbled on this salmon recipe video as I was riding in the car driving from Ohio to watch a Chicago Cubs games with my father, brother-in-law and his two boys. I believe we were passing through Gary, Indiana while I first watched this.
After the game, we asked some of the locals where to find a fish market because I really wanted to try this salmon recipe on the grill when we got back home.
We were directed to a fish market in Chicago, named, Hagen's Fish Market located on W. Montrose Ave in Chicago. Very nice place on the inside. I had a lot of time in the car while travelling to this baseball game. So I'm gonna tell you this recipe for Herb Butter Salmon is about 8 minutes long. If I was sitting at home in my office I probably would have never made it through the entire video. But being bored in the car on a 4 hour trip can cause a person to find entertainment in things they normally wouldn't.
We made this on the grill the following day and it was delicious!!! The video is long but Betty goes through exactly what you need to to to make this grilled salmon steaks with herb butter recipe. If you can make it through the entire recipe, you will learn, not only how to grill salmon steaks but also how to make herb butter. Herb butter can be used in many different recipes, not only for fish. If your looking for a side dish for this styled salmon. I would recommend, redskin potatoes and to drink ice tea.
One night I ordered a pizza with shrimp and lobster in white sauce. I liked it!!! And it got me thinking of all the salmon fillets that were in my freezer that I had caught during the last fall's salmon run I fished up in northern Michigan.
I 'm here to speak about smoked salmon pizza but if you have never fished a salmon run you are missing out. Not only on fishing but the natural beauty the fishing experience provides. Here's a very short video of the fishing experience up in Northern Michigan:
Look at those salmon fight Yeah I loved it!!! You can never understand how entertaining and fun this is until you try it for yourself. Below this video is a video that gives great instructions on how to make delicious smoked salmon pizza. I made this pizza more than twice with the salmon fillets I harvested from my fishing trip.
The recipe in the video below is the very first recipe I followed to make my fish pizza. I do think this lady does a very good job at explaining how. But as I made this more and more often I also search for more examples. Another recipe I followed for smoked salmon pizza. I can't remember but I think it is a Wolfgang Puck recipe.
I have fished for salmon for many years and I love being able to stock my freezer with salmon fillets.
I wonder why so many people are afraid to cook fish. I guess maybe most of us are more inclined to cook beef and a fish fillet actually looks foreign to us. Below is an excellent video if you want to learn to cook fish in a frying pan.
Cooking salmon is not and shouldn't be a scary process. Really it is quite easy. If you are curious or need to learn how to cook a salmon fillet in a pan, for whatever reason below is a great video that demonstrates how easy the process really is.
The chef featured in the video I think does a great job in providing some useful tips about cooking a salmon fillet in the pan.
I completely agree with how he first cooks the fish with the skin side down. There are many arguments in the cooking world about which side to put in the pan first, skin or skinless. And some cooks won't even cook salmon that still has the skin. But when I fry salmon I will only use fillets that have the skin left on one side and I always put this skin side down first.
Why?
The skin acts as a great buffer from the heat of the pan. It protects the fillet from damage. My usual way of cooking salmon in the pan is to put the skin down and let it cook about 2/3 of the way up the thickness of the fillet. You can tell how far up it has cooked just by looking at the color change in the fish as it is cooking in the pan.
One great frying tip I learned from the video.
I cook my fillets almost exactly how this chef in the video does, except for one great tip he provides. Cut little slits in the skin. By doing so this will help the heat get to the meat more evenly.
This is a great tip that I tried the last time I fried and it works wonderfully!!!
Another good tip
When you have first put the salmon fillet in the pan, use your fingers to go up and down the length of the fillet pushing it down on the pan. This will also help it cook more evenly. After you have done this then leave it alone, don't disturb it let it cook.
